Tennessee hiker “doing well” after fall at Red River Gorge

STANTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Wolfe and Powell County Search & Rescue teams were able to rescue a Tennessee hiker who fell nearly 200 feet off a cliff line Saturday evening.

Search crews say the man was hiking when a storm came through. As the hiker was trying to find shelter, he reportedly fell off a cliff line.

Crews went to try and locate the man around 8:00 p.m. Wolfe County Search & Rescue says they were able to hear him calling, and tracked him down.

Fortunately the hiker was uninjured in the fall, and teams were able to get him harnessed and bring him back up the cliff through complicated terrain.

Rescuers say the hiker is “doing well” and will be headed back to Nashville tomorrow.
