POWELL COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) Powell County Search and Rescue posted on Facebook saying that a woman was bitten by a snake Wednesday while hiking on Martins Fork Trail.

The 911 call was issued around 12:30 p.m.

They said in their post that she was bitten on the inside of her right ankle by a Copperhead and was carried out for transport to EMS.

Powell County Search and Rescue wants to remind hikers that this is the time of year where tennis shoes and sandals will not work. Remember to wear boots and long pants.
